Mirbat is a small coastal desert town, which is located in the Dhofar region of southern Oman. It is characterised by its numerous decaying beige mud and brick buildings, which blend seamlessly into its coastline. It has a number of picturesque points of interest, including the sites of Mirbat Castle and Bayt al-Sidduf, a traditional, fortified, merchants’ house. Future prospects for the town see a major development project, which includes a marina, water park and hospital. There is a luxurious Mirbat hotel.
