Mafia Island, despite its name, is a part of a fairly undeveloped archipelago, which lies around 200 kilometres, or a 45 minute flight from Zanzibar Island, Tanzania. It is largely recognised for the Rufiji Mafia Kilwa Marine Reserve, which is said to be home to some of the richest reefs in the world. There are also a number of wall dives, on which whale shark sightings are common. Besides its prime diving opportunities, visitors can enjoy a number of ancient ruins, and a captivating island walk. There is a range of Mafia Island accommodation.
